Michelle Sandler was born in upstate New York, and educated at Parsons The New School for Design in New York City. After completing her degree she went to study in Rome at the Domius Aurea. These two great artistic cities have infused her work with their drama.
She returned to the United States to work in the design department of the Federated Stores in Ohio, then as an independent interior designer of hotels, businesses, public spaces, and homes in Miami, Florida.
She continued her study of metal-smithing, painting and sculpture at the South Florida Art Center and the Revere Academy. She has taught jewelry making at the Art Center and elsewhere in the Miami area. Her interest and experience in Art History also lead her to teach that subject at Miami Country Day School.
Michelle lives with her husband in Miami, Florida where they raised their two sons. The lush tropical atmosphere of Miami has also been a great influence on her work.
